AI Freight Invoice Processing
In freight forwarding, thin margins decide the profitability of every shipment — and manual freight invoice auditing is where most capacity is tied up. Hundreds of freight invoices, customs papers and consignment notes arrive daily in different formats, languages and qualities. feld.ai automates freight invoice processing — from intake through line-by-line reconciliation to approval.
Typical documents
Freight invoices
Automatic extraction of shipment numbers, weights, rates, surcharges and toll fees — line by line, ready to reconcile against order and framework agreement.
Customs & EUR.1 documents
Capture HS codes, goods values and country of origin from customs declarations, EUR.1 forms and preference papers in structured form — for faster export handling.
CMR consignment notes
Structured capture of every field — sender, consignee, goods, weight, place of takeover and delivery. Handwritten additions and stamps are read along.
Delivery notes & POD
Automatically capture proof-of-delivery documents, reconcile them against shipment data and archive them in an audit-proof way — even with signatures and handwritten notes.
Subcontractor & carrier invoices
Automatically capture invoices from carriers and subcontractors and check them against the agreed terms — before they are released for payment.
3-way match for freight billing
A freight invoice on its own says little. Only reconciliation against the order and the proof of service shows whether the amount charged is correct. feld.ai performs this 3-way match automatically: purchase order or freight order, delivery note or proof of delivery, and freight invoice are checked against each other line by line.
It checks not just the total, but every line item: weight, rate, surcharges and toll fees. Discrepancies — an excessive toll flat rate, an unagreed surcharge, a wrong weight class — are flagged and presented for clarification. Unambiguous matches are proposed for direct approval. So only what was actually ordered and delivered flows into your accounting.

Frequently asked questions
Which documents does feld.ai process in freight billing?
feld.ai processes freight invoices, customs documents and EUR.1 forms, CMR consignment notes, delivery notes and proof-of-delivery documents, as well as subcontractor and carrier invoices. New document types can be trained with a few examples.
How does the automatic 3-way match work?
feld.ai reconciles the purchase order or freight order, the delivery note or proof of delivery, and the freight invoice line by line. It checks weights, rates, surcharges and toll fees. Discrepancies are flagged, unambiguous matches are proposed for direct approval.
Are customs and EUR.1 documents supported?
Yes. feld.ai extracts HS codes, goods values and country of origin from customs declarations, EUR.1 forms, certificates of origin and supplier declarations. The data flows in structured form into your customs system and speeds up export handling.
Does feld.ai process multilingual freight documents?
Yes. feld.ai reads documents in over 50 languages — including German, English, French, Italian, Romanian and Dutch. A consignment note from Romania is read just as reliably as a customs declaration from the Netherlands.
Where is the freight data hosted?
All data is processed and stored on our own servers in Austria. No US cloud provider, no data sharing with third parties. GDPR-compliant and ISO 27001 certification in progress. Your freight and trade data never leaves the EU.
